ID 28493411 © Trzaska | Megapixl.com

Traditionally, Buddhist monks leave their monastery everyday morning to go for food. They carry metal food containers and people who want to support them offer them food. Before donating food people pray to monks. Here a group of young monks walk bare foot along the street near Battambang town in East Cambodia. After returning to their monastery the young monks will share collected food with other monks. This communal life style is characteristic for Buddhist monasteries. Buddhism in Cambodia was destroyed by Pol Pot. Many monks were killed and slaved. Now, the population of monks is growing in Cambodia, and the majority of them are young men.
