Also cultivated for its ornamental flower (like other species of the same botanical genus), Passiflora edulis is cultivated for commercial purposes, due to the fruit, in the Caribbean, in southern Florida and in Brazil, which is the largest producer - and also consumer - world of passion fruit. Commercially used passion fruit is round or ovoid, yellow or dark purple when ripe, and has a large number of seeds inside.
