OLEACEAE tree measuring between 5 and 15 meters in height, evergreen branches and straight, extended. The cup is globose. It is native to China, Japan and Korea; in the region it is used to make fences, as it tolerates pruning very well. It also grows wild and usually invades native mountains as well as exotic forests, sometimes forming quasi-monospecific mountains. It has a light-colored, usually grayish or slightly yellowish rind that darkens over the years. The leaves are oval and lanceolate, dark green and glossy, lighter and opaque on the underside, measuring between 7 and 14 cm long by 2 to 4 cm wide. The flowers are hermaphroditic, gamopetalous and actinomorphic, they are arranged in apical panic, multiflora and in a pyramidal shape. It flowers mainly between November and December, although it also does so at other times of the year. The fruits are globose fruits, 8 mm in diameter, dark violet, grow in clusters. It bears fruit mainly in December. This plant can cause allergies in sensitive people and even asthma due to pollen.
