The Bohinj Valley is a beautiful, scenic and easy bicycle route to reach the well-known Lake Bohinj inside the Triglav National Park, Slovenia. The valley is popular for walking, climbing and mountain biking from spring to autumn, and the lake is a must for swimming, sailing, kayaking, rafting and fishing, especially in summer. This route runs through the valley meadows along the Bistrica River from the town of Bohinjska Bistrica, the main settlement of Bohinj Municipality, to that lake inside the national park. It passes through some small villages and farm fields in a quiet, rural and bucolic environment. The town is reached by road and is also served by a railway station, with a line that connects Jesenice and Nova Gorica, and Trieste (Italy) beyond.
