Visitors to Lake Bled in Slovenia enjoy its exuberant, green and fresh environment in many ways in summer. The wooden row boats, especially the traditional and colorful boats for tourists called 'pletna', are the most popular way among tourists to visit the lake, for wandering around its blue-turquoise waters while contemplating beautiful alpine forest landscapes and the magnificent architecture that lies around.Lake Bled is a very popular tourist destination in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia, located only 55 km far from the capital city, Ljubljana. It has a railway station to easily reach the area, besides the access by road. The lake lies in a picturesque environment surrounded by great mountains and forests, and for centuries people has flocked to its shores to enjoy recreation and also medicinal benefits. The remarkable medieval Bled Castle stands above the lake on its north shore.
