It's well known for the small Bled Island inside it, a very photographed landmark, and the remarkable medieval Bled Castle standing above the lake on its north shore.The lake lies in a picturesque environment surrounded by great mountains and forests, and for centuries people has flocked to its shores to enjoy recreation and also medicinal benefits.
