Lake Bohinj is the largest permanent lake in Slovenia, located within the Bohinj Valley of the Julian Alps, in the northwestern Upper Carniola region, and part of Triglav National Park. It is a glacial lake dammed by a moraine, and its clear waters are the habitat of several fish, mollusc and algae species. In summer, it is a popular destination for swimming, sailing, kayaking, rafting, fishing and other sports and nature activities. The lake is reached at the end of the Bohinj Valley, a beautiful, scenic and easy route through nature in a quiet rural environment, that joins the town of Bohinjska Bistrica with the lake.
