Stock Photo: Twin Peaks Tavern The Castro San Francisco 1

When Twin Peaks first opened its doors on the corner of Castro and Market streets,in 1935,it was just a neighborhood tavern,in just some building, built in 1881. Things changed drastically after it was bought,in 1971. Unlike all other gay oriented establishments up until this time,Twin Peaks was the first to completely open their windows,to not only allow the patrons to see out,but to allow passersby to be able to see the patrons inside,no more hiding. Fifty years later and their windows are still wide open, and now with sidewalk seating, too. As seen 28 August 2021.
