Built in 1915 as the Exhibition Hall for the Panama Pacific Exposition, that was held that year. It remained as the multi-purpose San Francisco civic Auditorium untill 1992, when it was renamed in honor of Bill Graham, who died the year before, in a helicopter crash. Bill Graham for his part, arrived in San Francisco in the early 1960`s, and by 1965 was managing the San Francisco Mime Troupe. From this, he was able to team up with other local promoters, eventually having a very lucrative career promoting many local talents.
