Phytolacca americana L., a plant of the Phytolaccaceae family, is also commonly referred to by a long series of other names Fitolaca, Moira berry; Indian bunch weed; Canker weed; Dye weed ; Dye vine; American Grape; Dye Grape; Bird Grape, among others.
Originally from North America, it is now naturalized in many other regions, where it was introduced for use in dyeing.
