Cacti are spiny plants belonging to the cacti family (cactaceae). They manage to survive in extremely hot or arid environments, due to the fact that they have the ability to accumulate water in their tissues. They are characterized by being cylindrical, globose, angular or flattened, and have different sizes. The tallest is Pachycereus pringlei, whose maximum recorded height was 19.20 meters. The smallest registered is the Blossfeldia liliputiana, from the Bolivian Andes, with only about one centimeter in diameter.
