Stock Photo: Killdeer Charadrius Vociferus 9

ID 255485315 © Peachpappa | Megapixl.com

This tiny shorebird is not called Killdeer, Charadrius vociferus, because of anything it does, but for what its call sounds like, somewhat like `keeel deer`. It does eat, mainly, insects, as well as worms and spiders, sometimes seeds. Killdeer are one type of plover, a bird group found throughout most of the world, that has a short beak, and uses its sight for hunting, not feeling for anything. As seen on the Carpinteria, California beach 16 August 2022.
