The Chimpanzee, Pan troglodytes, and the very closely related Bonobo are the closet related ancestors to humans, sharing 98.7% of the DNA with us, while sharing 99.6% with each other. Although omnivorous, eating primarily fruits and berries, they are known to also eat meat, mainly small rodents and insects. They are also known to be able to make tools and hunt. When hunting in a group, they will all share the food.
They have also shown sorrow and grief over death, to the point of avoiding the place where another chimp is known to have died.
