Western Blue Eyed Grass grows as a small, perennial where there is some moisture, particularly grassy areas. Colors vary from a true blue to a deep purple. It flowers March through July. After flowering it dies to the ground and is dormant for the summer. It grows best in sun to partial shade. Not recommended for formal gardens. Best in cottage gardens, borders and walkways. The blooms curl up at night and open in the morning.
