To help celebrate Gay Pride in San Francisco back in 1996, Patrick Carney and volunteers to erect an acre sized triangle made of pink canvas, at the top of the Twin Peaks Hill. Now partnering with Illuminate and with an official city event, there is over a mile of glittering streamers to make it more visible during the day light hours.
During the horrors of Nazi Germany, they had a color coded triangle patch for the different undesirables. The pink was for homosexuals, so as a matter of Gay Pride, it has been embraced ever since.
