In the mid 1930`s when Valetta moved to San Francisco's Telegraph Hill with her husband Desmond Heslet and her mother Grace, they found the remains of an old quarry and a slum, sand and mud, and a very beautiful view of the bay. They quickly bought a house, obtained permission from the city to do the planting all along the hillside, and had all kinds of artists move in or visit regularly. It quickly became a very fashionable neighborhood. As seen 27 March 2018.
