Gentrification is the process where one neighborhood of poorer residents and businesses get displaced when wealthier people move in to 'improve' it. In the Mission District of San Francisco,long the Latino neighborhood,a group of local businesses and residents got together in 1999 and formed a group called Calle 24 to help preserve the areas Latino culture. Calle is Spanish for Street,and 24 is the street in the heart of the Mission district. It is along this tree lined street,and the whole neighborhood where you will find unique,brightly colored murals,authentic locally made latino products or imported from throughout the Latino countries in shops,and restaurants.
