The Songshan Cultural and Creative Park is located in Xinyi District of Taipei City, Taiwan. It was established in 1937 as the Taiwan Governor-General's Monopoly Bureau Songshan Tobacco Plant during the Japanese occupation period of Taiwan. In 1945, it was renamed the Taiwan Provincial Monopoly Bureau Songshan Tobacco Factory, and in 1947, it became the Taiwan Provincial Tobacco and Wine Monopoly Bureau Songshan Tobacco Factory. The factory ceased production in 1998 and was designated as the 99th historic site in Taipei City by the Taipei City Government in 2001. In the same year, it was transformed and renamed as the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. After the factory stopped production, it became the largest green space in the eastern district of Taipei City, with many trees and plants that enhance its natural beauty. In addition to the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park, the old site of the Songshan Tobacco Factory also includes the Taipei Cultural and Creative Building and the under-construction Taipei Dome, which are managed by different organizations. The Taipei Cultural and Creative Building operates independently under a BOT (build-operate-transfer) model and is not within the management scope of the Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. The two sites are not affiliated with each other.
