Technically the New Palace, as the original was destroyed in the earthquake and fire of 1906. This one, opened in 1909, is on the original site. Despite the `new` version, this hotel is an historic landmark. Just ten years after opening, Woodrow Wilson gave speeches there supporting The Treaty of Versailles and The League of Nations. It also was used to host the banquet that opened the United Nations, which was charted in San Francisco.
