Eryops megacephalus was a large, predatory temnospondyl amphibian that lived during the Early Permian period, about 290 million years ago. It was one of the largest amphibians of its time, reaching up to 2 meters (6.5 feet) in length and weighing up to 100 kilograms (220 pounds). Eryops had a large, broad head with powerful jaws and sharp teeth, which it used to ambush and capture small fish, other amphibians, and even reptiles.
