James 'Sunny Jim' Rolph, the longest serving mayor of San Francisco with 19 years, grew up in this house, built in the 1870's. The only reason he left the office,he resigned, when he became governor of California. This was a time when the area was still sparsely populated, and when it rained, the dirt roads turned to mud. He even had a chicken coop in the back. After James father died,he inherited the property, which he kept even though he didn't need to. And he still owned it when he died suddenly, while in office as governor. As seen 19 April 2023.
