The Basilica of St. Nicholas is a Catholic church located in the center of Amsterdam . It was completed in 1887 to replace the old Amstelkring who went on to become museum. It was designed by architect Adrianus Bleijs (1842-1912), combining features of different styles, mainly neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance. The facade is crowned by two neo-Baroque towers with a window between them in which a bas relief depicting Christ is and the 4 evangelists. Above them stands a statue of St. Nicholas , patron of both the church and the city, was created by sculptor Bart van Hove (1850-1914) in 1886.
