A Ski Lift is a mechanism for transporting Skiers, the first were built in 1908 by German Robert Winterhalder in Schollach. Aerial lifts transport skier`s while suspended off the ground, often they are bicable ropeways, the bi- meaning that the cables have two different functions[carrying and pulling] They have different names aerial tramways, funfiors , gondola lifts, Ski lifts are built in both northern and southern hemispheres
