This is a picture of one of the great Chicago traditions the Christmas displays on State Street in Chicago, Illinois. The holiday tradition began in 1897 when the Marshall Field's Display Manager Arthur Fraiser decorated a window for Christmas. After World War II the display had expanded to a seven windowed story told window by window. On August 30, Macy's acquired Marshall Field's but has continued the tradition. This picture was taken on December 1, 2014.
