Rutgers Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt (No. 2) scrambles out of the pocket, operating with confidence and finesse, even when under pressure from onrushing Northwestern defenders as the Scarlet Knights won their season opener at home against Big Ten Conference rival Northwestern. The Wildcats scored in the final 20 seconds to avoid a shutout in a 24-7 loss. Coach Greg Schiano was pleased that Wimsatt didn't get down on himself when he made mistakes. He passed for 163 yards and 1 touchdown and rushed for 35 yards capped by a touchdown. The venue was SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey, on September 3, 2023.
