Pictured is a reconstruction of a stelophore sculpture of Nakht. The original piece was lost during its transport to America in 1915 when a U-boat sank the steamship `Arabic` in the Irish Sea, leaving us with just a few black and white photographs. Nakht was an Ancient Egyptian official who held the position of a scribe and astronomer of Amun, probably during the reign of Thutmose IV in the Eighteenth Dynasty. He is buried in the Theban Necropolis in tomb TT52.
