This is a photo I took of one of the sections of a temple complex of Wat Mahatat at Ayutthaya, a couple of hours outside of Bangkok in Thailand. It was build in the 7th century, A.D. and destroyed by the Burmese when they invaded Thailand. What surprised me, though made it very convenient, is that these temples are literally right next to a main road in the middle of the town with shops and cafes right next door, as I was expecting them to be in the middle of a jungle!
