Designed in the style of a typical Northern German farmhouse, the Thüringenhalle was erected between 1939 and 1945 for the Bürgerschützenkorps after plans by Alfred Crienitz and Walter Ahrens. In accordance with the fateful zeitgeist of the time, the building was partly erected on the site of the adjacent Jewish cemetery. The hall topped out on November 8, 1941.
