The building was originally built as a salt house salt store in 1707. In 1766 the town burnt down and the salt store was moved to a granary.
In 1882, a fund for the construction of the Municipal Theater National House was established. For this purpose, the city donated an old salt house building. The theater was built between 1895 and 1896 by local architect Stanislav Rokos as an elongated two-story neoclassical building. The main facade faces Solnà Street and the entrance to the Dean`s Church. The original salt house building was extended by about six meters. The entrance area emphasizes the balcony on the columns and the large, semicircular terminated window to the stairs. There are niches on the sides. In 2016, the theater was renamed from the Municipal Theater to the LubomÃr Lipský Theater, after his native.
