This picture was taken in 2017. This is known as Mirisawatiya Stupa, at Anuradhapura Sri Lanka which was built by the great king Dutugamunu ( Dutta Gamini Abaya).According to the legends, King Dutugamunu placed the great tooth relic in the scepter to protect it. Then leave it in that place and went to have a bath. After he comes back and took the scepter but it cannot move. Then he built this stupa where the scepter stood. Another legend said that King Dutugamunu partook in a chilly curry without offering it to the sangha. As a punishment for that, he built this stupa and named as Mirisawatiya. Now the Mirisawatiya Stupa is painted in White and this photograph was taken before painting it.
