Sri Lanka is an Asian country famous for ancient and historical things as well as its natural beauty. Anuradhapura was the very first real capital town built by King Panndukabhaya of Sri Lanka over two thousand two hundred years ago. During this era, the road network was developed by joining the main cities such as Trincomalee, Mannar, Jaffna and the southern kingdoms in ancient Sri Lanka. These roads were used for traveling, trade and commercial activities, and carts carrying goods. There are a number of ruined stone bridges around Anuradhapura city. This stone bridge was built across the Malwathu Oya and called Perimiyankulama Gal Palama. This picture shows a stone bridge that has been dated to the 5 - 9th centuries. It was situated at Perimiyankulama close to the Kuttam Pokuna (Twin Ponds). In the Sangamittha Mawatha travel approximately three to four Kilometers, passing some beautiful paddy fields, you can reach this place.
