Stock Photo: Lantern Flies Attacking A Tree

These little insects look really unique. They are kind of pretty to look at, with all their colors. Unfortunately in North America they are evasive. They get ahold of trees with these little legs as seen in this picture and use a type of straw to suck the sap out of trees. In this picture you can see these three clustered together. The vibrant colors and spots on their wings help too give them their name. This picture was taken in the East Coventry nature preserve close to Pottstown in Pennsylvania.
