John Kenneth Galbraith, economist, author, diplomat, and public official proved to be a riveting orator at the Lunchtime Speakers Series held at the Bovard Auditorium on the campus of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in May, 1974. Originally a Canadian, Galbraith was a liberal Democrat who served under John F. Kennedy as the United States ambassador to India from 1961 until 1963. A celebrated public intellectual, he died in Cambridge, Massachusetts on April 29, 2006, at the age of 97.
