The Home Telephone Company in 1908 when this building was built, was completely state of the art for the time. They were talking about their 413 miles of underground conduit, serviced by 850 manholes.
They were also getting ready to connect the East Bay, so the growing population their could be connected directly to San Francisco.
But because of decades of mismanagement by that time of San Francisco itself as a city, Home Telephone itself was bought by Pacific Telephone.
The building now housed condos on the upper floors.
