This Historic Folger Coffee Company Building in San Francisco has been through some very difficult times in San Francisco, two very major Earthquakes. When built, in 1904, the builders had the forethought to drive a pair of wooden pilings deep below the landfill, well below the water lever. These pilings helped the building withstand the shaking of the 1906 Earthquake. It again withstood the Earthquake of 1989. It is because the wood is below water level, thus prevented the wood from rotting over time. Although Folgers was popular with the gold miners of 1849, they also had few choices at the time. As time went on however, there were more and more options. And then Nascar came along, and Folgers, along with Kodak, became the first to sponsor Nascar, having their name splashed big on one of the cars. Because of this, Folger went from being the fourth best selling coffee in the country, to being number one. As seen 18 January 2023.
