This is an image of a Girdled Silk Moth (Rothschildia cincta) isolated on a white background. This moth is found in canyons, desert and stream side settings in northwestern Mexico and southeastern Arizona. The indigenous people of these areas have used the moth's cocoons to make rattles for ceremonial dances.
