By the late 1960`s, there were a lot of bands in San Francisco. Because of the changing demographics, home prices were dropping. Jack Leahy, a guitar student, started to build a personal recording studio in the basement of an old Victorian. Without even trying to, starting in 1969, various area groups all came to record their own music, some just once or twice and others over and over again. Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead; Country Joe and Herbie Hancock came, along with many others. Jack and his studio stayed until 1979, at which point he moved to the Russian Hill neighborhood. So then fans of the since departed Jimi Hendrix opened the Jimi Hendrix Electric Church Foundation here in its place. As seen 30 June 2022.
