When Cyclone Debbie hit the coastline of Northern Queensland on 28 March 2017, the backlash of this terrible force and natural disaster hit south east Queensland which has caused and is still causing major flooding in many areas of the state with Logan, the Gold Coast Hinterland, Proserpine and Rockhampton hit extremely hard with hundreds of houses lost to the floods and lives lost in both Queensland and Northern New South Wales. The cyclone caused winds and swells in the ocean to make the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Northern Queensland unsafe and very dangerous for swimmers and swimming in. Many beaches were closed and some still remain closed.
