Major League Hall of Famer Ernie Banks participates in an inter-generational question-and-answer session with local high school public school students in Chicago, Illinois, on December 7, 1982. Also attending the session were a retired professional jazz musician, Ralph Brown, and high school teachers and the students` principal. The event was one of numerous such activities bringing together old-timers and youngsters and was initiated by the City of Chicago`s Department for Aging and Disability. Banks, who hit 512 home runs in his baseball career, was known as `Mr. Sunshine,` and Mr. Cub.` He played his entire 18 year career with the Cubs and was the first Black player with the team, in 1953. Banks died at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from a heart attack, on January 23, 2015, 8 days shy of his 84th birthday.
