Cuphea hyssopifolia, false heather, Mexican heather, Hawaiian heather or fairy herb, is a small evergreen shrub native to Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. Grows up to 60 cm (24 in) high by 90 cm (35 in) wide and bears colorful flowers. purple, lavender or white and delicate foliage. The leaves are small, narrow and dark green. The fruit is a capsule containing small round seeds. The specific Latin nickname hyssopifolia (which also occurs in several other plant names, including Bassia hyssopifolia) means hyssop-leaved, referring to the plant's smooth, narrow leaves.
