Henry Casebolt was a Virginea Blacksmith who came to San Francisco with his wife and eleven children around 1850, establishing himself here as blacksmith.
Being very inventive, he invented the lever grip still needed for the cable cars, among many other things.
At the time this home was built, around 1865, it was the only one on the block, and for a long time.
