The Carpenter ant, Camponotus spp. is a common ant found in most wooded areas around the world. Often confused with termites because of how they seem to eat the wood, they instead carry the removed wood outside their nest and leave piles that resemble sawdust. They do eat other insects, both scavenging and hunting.
