In 1933 the wooden building was built at an altitude of 3653 meters and was named in honor of Simon Japaridze, Georgian climber. In 1941, on the same site, the stone building was built like the shelter for climbers and performing the role of the weather station. In 1998, the building was named Betlemi Hut. Every year it takes thousands of Georgian and foreign tourists who stay there for a night on the way to Mkinvartsveri peak (Mount Kazbegi). Appearance also considerably changed: the facade and the interior painted contemporary artists.
