Male and female Anna`s hummingbirds, Calypte anna, use the top of Huntington`s waterfall, near the top of Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park, to take a bath.
Unlike most birds, hummingbirds do not need the use of birdbath for drinking water, but to actually clean themselves. This allows them to spread their natural body oils around their own bodies better, which intern aids them to fly better, and stay warm.
This location also makes it more difficult for predators to get them.
