When built in 1882 at 699 2nd St in San Francisco as a warehouse for tea, it was only two stories. That was all that was needed at the time, and had one very big advantage over all the other warehouse buildings. It was designed as the only warehouse where railroad cars can pull fully into the building for unloading. As the city population continued to grow and land prices grew right along with it, the additional floors were added for condos, and the ground floor is retail operations. As seen 1 May 2024.
