Also known as Yellow Goatsbeard. Scientific name, Tragopogon dubius of the Aster family. The flowers are about one inch wide composed of pale yellow fertile ray florets, the outer much longer than the inner. Although an annual, this wildflower propagates and re-seeds. Anthers of the five stamens are black. Frequently seen along roadsides and untended patches of ground. Yellow Salsify grows in places with moderate to dry moisture conditions and various soil types. They flower late spring to mid-summer.
