The wreck of 'De Goslar' is located in the Suriname River near Paramaribo. A German merchant ship that sank on May 5,1940. The crew had already shoveled all the coal to one side the day before,so that the ship started to heel. After the German army invaded the Netherlands,the crew members were interned. By order of the ship's captain,the doors were opened and the ship sank. The ship is now (2020) in poor condition in a bend of the river.
