El Hierro pays tribute to the traditional shepherd with a large-format bronze sculpture by Manuel González. This artistic work can be seen in La Dehesa comunal, chosen for its special relationship with traditional grazing on the island of El Hierro. The bronze figure depicts a shepherd, clothed in a blanket in an upright position, initiating a step, firmly grasping the shepherd's stick with his left hand, joined on the right by a specimen of Herreño wolfdog and looking straight ahead in an active contemplative attitude.
