Not far from the village of Hollum in the dunes, is the lighthouse. The tower was built in 1880 and is still a beacon for sailors. Its coasguard function ended on January 1, 2005 and the building was officially handed over to the town of Ameland. Windmill De Verwachting or in English the Expectation is a smock mill in Hollum.
