Dziki Wodospad is located near the lower station of the cable car to Kopa. It was created by damming the waters of the ?omnica River, and its name refers to the nature of the river. The beginning of ?omnica is located at an altitude of 1,407 m above sea level. Its source area is Równia pod ?nie?k?. It is characterized by a huge drop in water, especially in the upper reaches, which, combined with heavy rains and spring thaws, has repeatedly caused dangerous floods. Its destructive power was especially felt in the 19th century. A cloudburst in the mountains and rising waters in 1816 led to enormous destruction throughout the Jelenia Góra Valley, where the total losses amounted to 109,496 thalers. Twenty-eight years later, a huge avalanche fell into Wielki Staw, crushing the ice and flooding the pond. The wave on the river resulting from this event carried ice floes, uprooted trees, boulders, stones and a huge amount of water that destroyed everything in its path. The flood of 1897 was particularly tragic, after which the then authorities decided to build protective reservoirs. The dam, today called the Wild Waterfall, was built between 1910 and 1915. Its effectiveness, along with other devices of this type, was confirmed in 1997, during the flood of the millennium.
